Hey there, and welcome to Doctor Mom’s Toolkit: Life Skills Mastery in Health, Wealth, and Love! Ep 2. I'm so thrilled to have you join us today. This podcast is all about helping busy doctor moms, just like you, find balance and harmony in your lives. I'm your host Dr. Tanzy Kulman, and we are going to structure this show in seasons. In this season of Doctor Mom’s Toolkit, we're diving into the wonderful world of organization.


So lets just dive right into this.


So what does stress have to do with how your home looks? Not just how it looks but does your home and your physical space serve you?


 You know, being a doctor mom is like juggling a gazillion things at once. From patient appointments to school runs, it can feel overwhelming. We start to drown out our own basic needs because we fear that prioritizing our needs would happen at the expense of our families’ needs.


And I’m here to tell you, that if you are feeling off, down, burned out, stressed out, or even blah, start here. Start with your physical space.
When you create a space that functions for you, your whole world changes. Think about it. Your circumstances to which you wake up every single day changes. When you go to sleep with a bunch of mess and a disheveled home, your energy when you wake up will reflect this chaos. Your children and your spouse will reflect this chaos. Overall relationships in the home suffer. You may say I don’t have time, or I don’t have the energy.
But what do you deserve? What does your spirit deserve?


We are all a product of the stories we tell ourselves. They may not be true stories but its our inner dialogue, the way we speak to ourselves that matter.
So if our circumstances reflect chaos, our stories to ourselves will ultimately be negative.
But the inverse is also true. If you correct your circumstance, i.e, the mess, the chaos, the clutter and the discord in your home, you are automatically pushing yourself to tell yourself a more positive story.
And guess what happens when we have positive thoughts, we create positive feelings. And positive feelings will ultimately inspire you, motivate you, and drive you to act positively. To act in a way that puts your own needs first. And serving yourself does not have to take away from serving your family.


In fact, the opposite is true. When you create circumstances in your home that flows with zen, mindfulness, and peace and live in an organized home and physical space, watch the whole family elevate to a better mood. Its a snowball effect. Every person will be kinder, and more respectful of each other’s needs.
